Dinner With The Scientist

Me and my friends with Principal Avent, Ms. Araki and Mrs. Apaydin

This year I was finally able to participate in "Dinner with a Scientist"; it was held at the Snow Building in the Oakland Zoo. Because there were so many kids participating, the event repeated for two more days.  First we toured the zoo and after we had dinner with three scientists that rotated through our table. One was Natasha Naidoo, another was Elizabeth Donald, Liz for short, and I got her signature. Unfortunately I can’t remember the name of the third scientist. Elizabeth Donald  is a Senior Scientist with the Clorox Company. Everyone got a souvenir program, inside is a short bio for Liz and the other scientists. Here is a quote from her bio: “Science is exciting because it constantly reveals new things about who we are and the universe around us.  The best part is that ANYONE can be a scientist!”  I agree also that anyone can be a scientist.

I have a puzzle for you, here is a copy of our dinner menu. Can you guess what we had for dinner? Put your answer in the comment box.

Sunset Island

Got a chance to go to Sunset Island electronic picnic again this year with my friend Rohan. I got to see Octave One, these guys are really cool, plus they are also on Pandora so you can listen to more of their music. They play at lots of concerts around the world, next week they will be in Argentina, then London, then back to the US then Spain and so on. The Youtube video is from the actual show I went to on Treasure Island. If you look close you might see me and Rohan. source:  youtube Synergized Live and Soundcloud

MINECRAFT

Everybody knows about Minecraft. My friend Rohan told me to download multi player so he and I could play together. I want to buy it but I keep forgetting to ask. It looks fun. It's hard with all the creepers following you. Creepers are a kind of monster that blows up when you find diamonds. There are also skeletons with bow and arrow that ride spiders that attack you, zombies, enderman (basically slender man), chickens, dog, girl friends, cows, sheep, squids, lava, water, sand, apples, pigs, rain, stars, clouds, the moon, the sun, you know stuff that already exists. You also have TNT just to blow things up. And I insist you to play it, it's so awesome.

Last month, the Museum of Art and Digital Entertainment (MADE), a video game museum in Oakland  recreated Oakland in Minecraft as part of an exhibit at the Oakland Museum of California (OMCA).

I found a t-shirt on J!nk  of a creepers anatomy , and yes it's on a girl's shirt, but it only comes in men's.

Also last week Minecraft creator Markus "Notch" Persson released his latest browser-based game Drop.

Six Flags

Gif Created on Make A Gif
Last Sunday I went to Six Flags with my friend Rohan. Our first ride that day was the Tony Hawk' Big Spin. When I got on I kept saying "Oh My God!" the whole time. I even said the s-word. But I didn't get in trouble because I was really scared. The Tony Hawk is a skateboard rollercoaster ride. Tony Hawk is a really famous skateboarder that did a loop on his skateboard. Rohan and I almost cried my Dad was laughing a lot and my Mom started screaming. I also went on the GORILLA, it goes 31 mph I think but it feels like 190 mph. Rohan and I went on 5 times. The GORILLA is actually KING KONG. I went on the Cobra 8 times.
