Black Snake Chemestry
Today I am going to do a chemical reaction called "Black Snake". So what's happening is that the sulfuric acid is removing all the water molecules from sugar since its a carbohydrate. Then your basically dehydrating the sugar which then your left with elemental carbon. Although the sugar is dehydrated, the water isn't lost in the reaction. Some of it stays as a liquid in the acid. Since the reaction is exothermic, much of the water is boiled off as steam.
C12H22O11 (sugar) + H2SO4 (sulfuric acid) → 12 C (carbon) + 11 H2O (water) + mixture water and acid
The way I'm going to do is by using drain cleaner (dehydrated sulfuric acid) and 'just adding water' , and of course sugar. It will still be like the above, but not as good as this video below.
